Lines in the Sand

Lines in the Sand is a unique grassroots contemporary arts festival held on North Stradbroke Island, the world's second largest sand island.

The Island's great natural beauty and rich Aboriginal culture and history are reflected and celebrated in the festival's annual themes. Invited artists create site-specific outdoor installations and art works that last perhaps only until the next tide comes in or the next storm blows across the headland. The installations centre on the Headland and famous Gorge Walk at Point Lookout as well as beaches and coves.

Inkahoots created the festival's visual identity, publications and promotional material. Our approach focused on combining the values of a community based ephemeral arts festival and contemporary global environmental art practice.
