In spite of bloody-minded encouragement from the state government's new bat dispersal laws, not everyone wants to see our native fruit bats shot, smoke bombed, clubbed, and culled.

On Tuesday night my girlfriend and I rescued a Flying Fox that had been hit by a bicycle in Fortitude Valley. The resulting X-Rays confirmed a clean break to her left wing. This sad and beautiful image also revealed signs of new life growing in her belly.

Luckily the break was able to be pinned and all signs point towards her full recovery.

(more on bats soon)
