Blog

Typolitic is an online forum conceived by Inkahoots to showcase and discuss the best socially and politically focused undergraduate typographic work from around the world.

Typolitic features contributions from several leading designers, typographers and writers whose work is referenced in students' courses. Their commentary provides a unique ongoing pedagogical forum with a fascinating feedback loop between the studied and the student. Also commenting are several guest experts from outside the field. The blog itself argues implicitly for the teaching of typography and design generally as an intrinsically political medium. And its basic ambition is to encourage many more of these kinds of projects so that they may become the seeds of emancipatory practice.

The site's creation was very gratefully assisted by Luke Robertson & Aaron Gillett with development by Matt Lenz of Ha-lf, Inkahoots' Mat Johnson and Feral Arts' Bhu Vidya.

And of course huge thanks to Typolitic's guest contributors: Pierre Bernard, Rick Poynor, Sarah Kanowski, Tony Fry, Douglas Rushkoff, Jonathan Barnbrook, Ellen Lupton, Ben Ball, Stephen Banham & Nick Bell.
